German courses in Germany at did deutsch-institut

The schools of did deutsch-institut are located all over Germany (for example in Cologne, Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich and more). For over 40 years, did is working in the field of language education with around 5000 students visiting the schools every year. Accreditations via the Association for the German Language (GfdS9) and a membership in EAQUALS show that the institute is one of the biggest and most renowned providers of German courses worldwide.
Next to the various locations, did also offers several kinds of courses: An intensive German course in Augsburg for 14 to 17 year old students which is availabe all year round, High School Programme, German at a teacher's house where students live together with a teacher at their home and of course the popular summer camps.

This website tries to cover all courses as thorough as possible but please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any more questions.

The year-round course in Augsburg offers either 20 lessons (standard) or 24 lessons (intensive) of German classes per week for 14 to 17 year old students. The minimum of German knowledge required for this course is A1 (basic understanding).

At the beginning of the course, there will be a placement test as well as a short interview sorting the students into the correct class. At the end of the course, students will receive a certificate. All the learning materials are included in the course fee.
Students will be accommodated in host families in double rooms with full-board. Depending on the season, there will be offered two, three or four activities as well as one excursion on the weekend. The course fees also include the tickets for public transportation and the transfer from and back to the main station Augsburg.

The Highschool Programme is suited for teenagers aged 14 to 17. It is a great opportunity for students to visit a different country, a different culture and also to get to know a whole different school system. Students can either stay an entire school year (10/11 months) or just a term (5/7 months) at a German Realschule (middle school) or Gymnasium (secondary school) from grades 9 to 11. On demand, students can ask to stay for a shorter period of time. Usually, school holidays are included in the stay.

Depending on age and knowledge of a student, they will be sorted into the according grade. Requirements for the Highschool Programme are verified scholastic achievements, including a very good understanding of the German language (a minimum of level B2). A written German exam has to be taken prior to the application.

Students are accommodated in host families in a single room with full-board.

After the successful completion of a term or year, students will receive a certificate or report (depending an the length of the stay). The vaildity of this document in the home country of the student should be clarified beforehand.

Amongst other things, did will arrange insurance for every student which includes illness, accidents and liability.

German at a teacher's house offers students to experience the German language and culture at first hand. Lessons will be held at the home of the host family by a visiting teacher or sometimes it is even the host mother or father who will take care of the German lessons. Students can choose between 10, 15, 20 or 25 lessons per week.
A requirement for attending this course form is a language level of B2. As in most courses, students have their own room with full-board. It is recommended to at least book such a course for two weeks.

Summer Camps:
Depending on the age of a student, they can choose between Aschaffenburg and Potsdam (age 12 - 16) or Augsburg, Cologne, Nuremberg and Wiesbaden (age 14 - 17).
Host families with full-board in single rooms serve as accommodation. There will be four activities and one weekend excursion per week. Unfortunately, this kind of course will not take absolute beginners.
Students might attend this course from 2 to 6 weeks. All teaching material is included in the course fee.
